Venous insufficiency manifests when the valves in your veins fail, preventing blood from flowing efficiently to your heart. This leads to a build-up of fluid in your legs and feet. The consequent pressure can cause swelling, also known as edema. Frequent symptoms of venous insufficiency and swelling include heavy legs, aching, cramping, varico
